Watch the replays here, 125 was very entertaining at the front, Rabat has certainly gained a new fan! Smithy could have done better, but points are better than nothing, good showing from Danny Webb, who was almost without a ride prior to the season.

125s were as good as ever! got to be worried about smith tho.... i thought for sure he'd mannage to be up there with the top group... he needs to do it this this year! i think tho that he'll be better off on a moto2 machine... he's gotten a little to big for a 125 imho.

Smith has certainly raised some doubts with his opening race, its a long season before but given his position and experience i was rather hoping he'd be asserting his authority, it seems that Terrol has picked up where Simon left off last year and he has to be favorite. Has anyone else noticed that since the Bancaja livery has been on the Aspar bikes (07 onwards) that the bikes have each had a a different colour of flourecent pinstriping and detail on wheels and fairing... The top rider has always been riding the 'red' bike?

As a side note, the 125 entry list is down by about 8 bikes this year. Does anybody else think that the oppertunity provided by moto2 will work against the 125cc class and that Dorna may have to re-write the rules for that sooner rather than later?

Smith was runner up last year, so he certainly should be a favorite. During the commentary Toby and Jules mentioned that the team messed their practice sessions up and he didn't have much time on the bike. Also last year he started off the season with a 5th at Qatar and a 10th at Japan, before taking a victory at Jerez, so nothing major for him to start things with an 8th. I'm sure Martinez will give him what it takes to win, but having a Spanish teammate you'd think he would have to play 2nd fiddle to Terol. In regards to Terol, he has been pretty strong these past few years, it could be his year to take it. He certainly played it smart at Qatar, waiting for 3-4 laps before pulling the pin and checking out.

I thought Espargaro might have been the one to win, but instead he got all caught up in the pass me, pass me back activity. Good race though, Vasquez looks like he could be a factor for once. How about Krummenacher, hanging in there after having his front fender ripped off.

Good question, I could see how some of the older or bigger riders would have moved up to Moto2 this year rather then hang around in 125's. I suppose it comes down to cost and opportunity. If the Moto2 teams are cheaper to run, some of those teams that would have been running 125's this year are trying out Moto2 instead. So long as 125's don't turn into what 250's were, where you have to lease a $1 million Aprilia in order to be competitive, then I see it retaining its "junior" status as the place where the up and coming young guys get their start. What possibly could Dorna do to keep guys in 125? Put a minimum age limit on Moto2?

I don't know, i'm not a fan of all this age limiting crap besides the absolute minimum age. Apparently Aprilia have pulled all factory support so all the bikes are the same as they ended last year.

Apparently Dunlop have developed the tyres though, doing away with the two different rim sizes. I wonder if they have stopped using the rim size that Smith majorly favoured.

The little `stinkers` need to move over now to make way for 450cc singles or perhaps 250cc singles.Theres a growing popularity for them here (UK) and in the USA and if its left too late then the Brits and Americans are going to flounder as usual.

Listened to Moody and Ryder today discussing the 125 replacement class.........word is that it`ll be 250 singles .I don`t understand why though.Won`t a 250 rev higher than a 450? Wouldn`t it be more expensive to maintain ? I`m no rocket scientist so somebody explain the logic in choosing 250`s please.

well i think the cheapest racing bike is an 125cc bike and is also the best for teenagers to start with. they probably want no 2strokes at all as it seems. 250 4stroke is ok but maybe more expensive, a 450 would be too much since when you begin in order to go fast you must learn not to rely on engine power, i believe.

MCN states today that Moto3 starts in 2012 with multiple manufacturers.Ok its MCN,but it makes sense.

tom if i remeber correctly... watchin the race early early early sat morning emmett & harris said that 4 in a row would be a 1st in the 125s........ but not sure...

Could be wrong, but I'd say either Bautista or Ui would be the last to do 4 in a row in 125's.

yeah as i said i was not sure but i got it partly right. as i watched the 125 race at sachsenring i was more awake & paid more attention... marquez is the youngest to have won 4 now 5 in a row.
