Wow... I would have bet against this. How much does the mighty H cough up for this right? I think its a coup... no matter what rider/team wins on a particular weekend or year Honda can advertise that they have the world's best 600cc motor. How do Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki let this happen?

How does a great series fall down and say BOOOOM? Contract a single engine, tire, etc manufacture and lets have a race. It is so lame that the 250's are going and now we have to watch everyone run on hondas. Fuck that I could give a shit now. I was hoping that they would allow some type of modified 600's so that we can see some warfare but now it is just a lame IROC type format.

No control tyre in 250's at the moment but all running Dunlops so its good to see that Michelin are interested.. While im intersted to see what moto2 has to offer,having a one make engine supplier is not the way to go. Great idea for a domestic series NOT GP'S....

You have had KTM and last years title was won with a Gilera (really just a re-branded Aprilia, but still).

But while Aprilia has been the bike of choice, it is like Honda was in the 500cc and 990cc eras. It was the best bike to have, so people bought it. 500cc in the mid 90's was the Honda cup.

If you want to make the series interesting to more teams and more manufacturers (who otherwise would have to wait for Honda's contract to end) is by making the rules open and allow whoever builds an engine to compete. Keep it under a spec rule, to keep costs down, but allow more than one name to compete.

One Yamaha last year ,a few honda's, ktm's, but most of the grid is made of Gilera/aprilia. Some thing needed to be done with the current series, however going to a single engine supplier i believe is not the answer.

What worries me is the 'real' GP schooling aspect, that will almost disappear from the cadet series because of the stock-derived engine. Stock-derived means a heavy engine block, with all imaginable results on handling, braking, etc; and, no replaceable gearbox so riders will not learn that key art of choosing the right gear for each corner. A superstock series, imho, which will not develop the key skills useful in MotoGP. Simoncelli, Bautista, Aoyama and Barbera will be the last generation of riders to arrive in MotoGP with the right schooling. I foresee a brilliant and long future for them,--along with Stoner, Lorenzo, Pedrosa Dovi Kallio & C.) before younger champs coming from Moto2 can seriously challenge and dislodge them rolleyes.gif

The Eurospert team did say there was a rumour of the crankcases being recast to accept a cassette type gearbox which makes sense as the cases cannot be allowed to be the same as WSS bikes or they will have the lawyers from WSBK on their case,just something Julian Ryder mentioned so maybe its not all bad,I don`t know.
Also had think on who is going to be building the chassis,so far I`ve got Harris,Bimota,Ilmor with the MGP frame adapted to suit and money permitting,Kenny Roberts.Point is it may not be as dull as people are expecting ,don`t forget we`ll have riders coming from here there and everywhere now that it will be more accessible-an easier way into the premier class maybe? smile.gif

where did you here or see this info? i think they can do just about anything they want to the bikes, including gear box, with the exception of the engine. theres going to be multiple tire manufactures, multiple chasis manufactures and all sorts of cool new stuff. J4rn0 i think you and the other doubters are being a bit pesimistic so give it a chance. the 250s are going to run along side the new bikes next year so we'll see how they'll compare.
