As some of you know, I have an out-dated crappy rig and I'm looking for a new one. I've settled on my price range and found two standout systems.

http://www.cube247.co.uk/?customise=39

It has:

* Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
* Intel Core 4 Quad Q6600 Processor
* 4096MB Corsair DDR II Memory
* 750GB SATA II Seagate Ultra Fast Hard Disk Space
* NEC 7200 Multi Format DVD/CD ReWriter
* TWO nVidia GeForce 8600 GT 1024MB PCI Express Graphics Cards (2048MB SLI)
* 7.1 High Definition Surround Sound
* Intel Deluxe Motherboard
* Multi Format Memory Card Reader
* DVD/CD ROM Drive
* 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN
* 12 x USB2 Ports
* Firewire
* Hanns G 22” Widescreen TFT 5MS HDMI Flat Panel
* Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard
* Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse
* Creative Inspire T6100 5.1 Speaker System
* 12 Months Classic Warranty

And this rig:

http://www.pcnextday.co.uk/products/Produc...roupCode=INTC2Q

- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor clocked at 2.40Ghz
- 2GB DDR 2 800MHz Memory
- 500GB SATA 7200RPM Hard Drive
- 20x SATA DVD-RW
- 52 in 1 Card reader
- Black Aluminium fronted Coolermaster Cavalier ATX case
- High performance quiet heat pipe cooler
- Zoostorm Titan 500W SLI Power Supply
- 2 x Geforce 9600GT 512MB Graphics cards in SLI Configuration
- 6 USB 2.0 Ports (2 front, 4 rear)
- 10/100/1000 LAN
- 7.1 Channel High Definition Audio
- Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium pre-loaded and licensed
- 22" Widescreen LCD monitor with 5ms Response
- Microsoft Keyboard & Mouse

On paper the first one trumps it as it's £25 ( ohmy.gif ) cheaper, but I know the figures are sometimes misleading. Although my best mate has told me Corsair RAM is highly rated.

Yeah I'm a heavy gamer, finally getting back into it. I appreciate the advice as you're the PC Daddy around here. tongue.gif

Might overclock it later on. tongue.gif

my msi mother board has dynamic over clock. it automaticly over clocks the cpu and ram and turns up the fan speed to keep the heat down. i bet most modern stuff will do the same. unlikelt you would ever need to over clock those cpu's mate.

are you building your own ? i bought a barebones, took half an hour to bang it together saved quite a bit of money. trouble with buying from places like pc world or dell is they bang on about the ram and cpu but dont tell you the mother board cant be upgraded later because its old technology or if it has pc express slots and the old pci slots which are always handy.
