I am curious who you guys feel will be coming into the ranks of Moto GP over the next few years. Just a few I could see one day moving up in the ranks to Moto GP:

Bautista - probably the fastest rider in 250's right now but is having trouble keeping it on two wheels. If he can solve his "crashing problem" he could be moving up. I believe Aspar was talking about running a GP bike and he was mentioned.

Kallio - his consistency and skill in avoiding crashing has kept him the leader in the points. I don't see him as a future GP champion but would make a great contender. Also his nationality gives him an extra plus in the overall international makeup image they are trying to portray.

Pasini - last year they were saying he would never race a 250 due to a hand/arm injury of sorts, yet now he is racing 250 and doing very well. If his strength can hold up to the stress of Moto GP I would love to see him in the top class one day. He's a very likable fellow as well.

Simoncelli
- I think everyone is surprised with how well Marco is doing this year, from crasher to front runner/race winner. Like Bautista he's gotta keep it on two wheels, but I think it likely we might see him in Moto GP one day.

Spies - there has been plenty of talk of getting Ben Spies into Moto GP. His performance at Laguna and Indy will show his ability to adapt to the new machinery. Bottom line, he has to do as good or better then Roger Lee Hayden did last year at Laguna as a wild card.

Aoyama or Takahashi - Nakano's time is just about up in Moto GP, and we all know that having a multi-national field is important. Right now Takahashi is looking better the Aoyama. Perhaps they move another Japanese rider from WSBK, Kiyonari?

De Meglio - the current French riders are to put it bluntly, crap. Guintoli at least can keep from crashing. De Meglio granted is only in the 125's but again, they will need French representation and he is about it. Might be a few years before they bring him thru the 250s.

I can't think of anyone in World Supersport that is worthy of a ride in GP.

Your thoughts.

Johnny Rea would get my vote from that series

I would also put forward Joey Pascarela, He's only 15 so weather he makes it into motogp(any class) or the world stage in any series time will tell but IMO his riding style would suit motogp 800cc perfectly, he's so damn quick thru the corners and shows no fear

I mentioned him before in another thread

I like bradley smith in the 125 class. I think by the time he gets to 250 he'll be very good and could be fast in motogp.

Spies for a couple seasons until he shits the bed and they kick his ass out. That guy used to be a cool dude, now he is a victim of his own success. Josh Herrin is another person I think would be great on a GP bike in a few years. That kid has got mad sack and is one of the best behaved and most respectful guys in the paddock.

I think the most likely is Simoncelli. He's very Rossiesque with his style and he even looks like him, with the dodgy hair and lankyness. He looks like a rider much more sorted to the bigger bikes.

I'm unsure about Bautista atm.

I'd like to see Mika Kallio in motogp .... as i remember there were also some rumours that he had/has some offers

Based on all the rumours regarding Spies and potential teams i'm starting to wonder if the Suzuki deal is as done as we were told. Does anyone know more?

As far as the next riders in motogp right now i'm most convinced by Takahashi and Simoncelli. Kallio looks good as well, but perhaps needs to be a little faster. I'm very unconvinced by Bautista at the moment and i think its too early for Pasini.

Max Neukirchner and Ryuichi Kiyonari definatly deserve to be in MotoGP in the next few seasons, especially ahead of Simoncelli, Di Meglio etc.

What?

Fair enough he was a different class in BSB, but if Rea wasn't a rookie, he'd have had him.

Kiyo isn't even the fastest in his team. Never mind remotely close to the championship.

And Nieto, maybe.

This is again from MCN and they have reported this wk that, Suzuki will not be running a third bike untill the start of 2010 at the earliest. The only way Spies will get a ride now is by replacing Loris or Chris

He still has the two wild card for the US races

He has been approaching other teams so he might still get a ride

On the same page theres another story titled "Suzuki denies Dovizioso approach" laugh.gif

While I too think Spies isn't as humble as he could be. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does in his wildcards. He will get to test the bike at indy before hand so hopefully he will get to decent terms with the bike. Then he heads to a track where he is very fast on and it will be interesting to see how he goes. aftwards he heads back to Indy where he has the advantage on everyone of track knowledge and by then he'll have a decent amount of time, and a race on the bike, so again he'll have an advantage. The situation couldn't have worked out better for him and if he wants a ride in motogp heres is his chance to come through.

Cheers buddy. Who else is on the list? Is it basically down to a matter of Spies gets the bike if Chris gets a better offer?

DiMeglio is still in 125, it'll be a few years before considering him for motogp is realistic. Simoncelli is obviously fast but a risk as hes only recently found his form ans stopped crashing. Superbike riders are equally risky though, JT is doing a great job but before him Chris Vermuellen was considered a good find from the other side.

Is it possible to get to terms with a Moto gp bike fully after 1 test? I remember how dire Duhamel was, and I'm sure RLH did a fair bit of testing at Kwaker HQ?
