Here is a link that contains some nice photos of a Ducati Desmosedici RR, Ducati's Moto GP bike replica for the road.
This may have been posted before so I apologise, but the site contains some really beautiful up close photos of the bike and includes Sete's and Loris's GP bikes. Apparently the 400 bikes that Ducati will make in a limited run have already been sold to interested buyers. This is as close to expericing a Moto GP bike as it gets, no wonder they sold so quickly. http://www.onewheeldrive.net/index.php?opt...=542&Itemid=126 |

I bought it one months ago. My friend is testing the bike in Istanbul Park for see the Ducati performance
But you must to have a desmosedici 999R if do you wanna buy a RR . I ordered this bike 7 months ago but I taked for one month. Then there isnt a ducati service in here. When bike cause a problem I should take spare parts from Ducati's centre service and It takes a lot of time. Thats the first impression about desmosedici. Thats the 4th Desmosedici in Turkey ( I heard yet, but its just one RR in here ) |

You DO NOT need to own a 999R to purchase a Desmo RR. The 999R owners go to the front of the list.

Yes u're right but They saled their all bikes to 999R Owners ( Im saying what I heard
There was a contract. It was writing in contract " You couldnt sale your bike 3 years early. Thats intresting. You have to send your 999R Story . How did you decide to buy. How was the cost etc. etc. It was so boring |

So maybe technically you didnt need to be 999R owner to get an RR, but because there was only 400 bikes, and 999R owners get put on the top of the list, the only chance you had to get one was to be 999R owner?

It looks you musnt to have a 999R If you wanna buy a RR. But I heard that, There was only 400 bikes and the all bikes saled the 999R Owners.
You doesnt need a 999R to buy a RR But the all of the list was 999R owners. When I heard that I thinked I should have to order a RR. It was a big chance for me coz being quick was so important. |

Sorry guys I have not posted in a while. That Desmo RR is a great bike but for my money I would rather purchase a 1098 and spend a couple thousand in improvements and it will go as fast as that RR. A student brought his RR to a school that I instruct at and he let me take him for a few laps with him on the back and a couple solo. While the bike is a great bike with awesome power, I feel that a 1098 with 15 grand in upgrades would be faster and easier to control. Just my two cents.

It's crazy when you think it's nearly a £40,000 bike:

Not the best looking bike, but no doubt a top performer. I would like to see it tested against the jap bikes on a track, just to see the difference in lap times.

Not the best looking bike, but no doubt a top performer. I would like to see it tested against the jap bikes on a track, just to see the difference in lap times. The difference in stock form would be huge. The jap bikes have suspensions from the factory that suck shit through a rag. I have honestly taken a stock bike and dropped an enitre second just by putting better fluid in the shock and forks. The jap factories really neglect suspension from the factory because they know that the bare bones suspension would suffice for the average buyer of their bikes and anyone who wants more from the bike will probably put their own stuff on it anyway. So straight out of the box it would be a massive difference. Somewhere between 7 seconds at a place like Qatar (long flowing easy in and easy out of corners) to something like 10 seconds or more at a place like Donnington or Brands (where there is a lot of character and elevation change plus not quite so flowing and the need for bike feel and feedback is paramount). The feeling I got from the Desmo was real good but the power was real difficult to put to the ground. The bike wanted to spin up everywhere, EVEN WITH THE OTHER RIDER ON THE BACK!! So its got an abundance of power its just not that easy to ride. But one could make it much better with a little tweaking. |

Then there's of course a limit to what they can fit into the budget. I think it's amazing that you can buy any of the jap liter bikes for around $11k. Those bikes are probably the best bang for your bucks out of all motorcycles out there. But seriously, I would love to see a mag do a track test with the Desmo and some more "normal" sportbikes. |

Thats great Eagle, you got ride one of these beasts! Ive heard the same about the suspension on the liter bikes (expt the R1 LE few yrs back). You get what you pay for.
From what I've read is that the Desmosedici front forks you could buy from Ohlins for about $20k-25k. Not sure about the shock, but I guess it would cost more than pretty much more than a liter bike. Someone posted a photo of a GXR, Desmosedici, and a Ninja 650r. Say we take all of these bikes bone stock to Laguna Seca. I(with my very limited track exp) get the Duc and Hopper jumps on the Ninja for a one lap race. Who do you think would win? Even if the ducati was dialed by Stoners Team, Hopkins would be holding the 1st place trophy. -------------------- [size="1"] I'm old and I'm not happy.
