According to Cycle News Nakano will be on a factory RCV for Brno and I assume the rest of the season.

He would definitely have been my first choice rolleyes.gif

San Carlo Honda Gresini's Shinya Nakano will have the benefit of a factory Honda RC212V when the series rseumes after the summer break in Brno... Sorry, as much as I love Nakano...that just makes very little sense. Why not Dovi? Nakano is more of a veteran?

Nakano - Japanese

Just like Marco or Loris on the Ducati, they want to have a Japanese rider on a Japanese bike, this is as much about national pride and marketing as it is the very astute observation that Dovi would take points out of Dani.

Agreed.
Bet De Angelis doesn't get one as he has been going too quick.
Why is Haga in Superbikes and Nakano in Motogp?
I know who my money would be on if the 2 should race.

But with Rossi, Edwards, Jorge and JT (all world champs) at Yamaha they (Yamaha) have made a decision to leave Haga in SBK.

Haga is a chance at winning the SBK crown but would just be an also ran in motogp against Rossi, Stoner, Pedro and his Yamaha brethren.

Yamaha are desperate for a SBK title as it is closer to the race Sunday ride Monday market.

I am 1 million % agreed however that Haga would boot Nakano’s freckle

Correction ... "Haga HAD HIS chance at winning the WSBK crown"

I agree though, he would wipe Nakano on equal machinery.

nakanos riding style is also much closer to pedros than nickys is so its a definite step by HRC in the pedro direction. nakano will also be able to talk directly with the engineers, something that just isnt happening with nicky.
i also think that this is confirmation by HRC that nicky will be riding another brand next year and no more new parts/development will be coming his way for the rest of this season, hence nakano gets the test duties now...

Nakano is Japanese, can't beat Pedrosa and is on Bridgestones. The Bridgestones part is the most important piece. It means he could potentially run near the front and aid Honda in winning a manufacturers WC and take points away from Rossi/Stoner when they have an off weekend. Additionally, I would assume HRC are weighing up a switch from Michelin to Bridgestone.

Bridgestone are not willing to supply anymore teams. Dorna had to interfere for Rossi switch.. isn't it?
But the former part of ur suggestion seems very valid

That was for this year.

Austin beat me to the Bridgestone link. I also think Nakano would make the best test mule with all his tire knowledge. Not sure if we will see a improvement in him.

I'm old and I'm not happy. Everything today is improved and I don't like it. I hate it! In my day we didn't have hair dryers. If you wanted to blow dry your hair you stood outside during a hurricane. Your hair was dry but you had a sharp piece of wood driven clear through your skull and that's the way it was and you liked it! You loved it. Whoopee, I'm a human head-kabob. We didn't have Manoxidol and Hair Wings, in my day if your hair started falling out when you were 16 by 19 you were a bald freak. There was nothing you could do about it. Children would spit at you and nobody would mate with you so you couldn't pass on your disgusting baldness genes. You were a public menace, a crome dome by age 20 and that's the way it was and we liked it! We loved it. Hallelujiah look at me, I'm a bald freak oh happy day! Not like today, everybody feeling good about themselves. I hate it! In my day we didn't have these thin laytex condoms. So you could enjoy sexual pleasure. In my day there was only one kind of condom. You took a rabbit skin and wrapped around your privates and tied it off with a bungee cord and you couldn't feel nothing! And half the time you didn't even know your partner was there. And we used the same one over and over again! 'Cause we were ignorant morons! Just a bunch of hairless, head-kabobs standing around with rabbit skins on our dinks and that's the way we liked it!

This is hilarious

DeAngelis and DePuniet are both crashers and Dovi IS FREAKIN' OBVIOUSLY ALREADY ON A FACTORY RIDE laugh.gif

At Qatar, Hayden had the 08 front fairing on the 07 bike because he wanted to see if it would improve his aero. The fairings are obviously interchangable. Emporer Puig wouldn't like other people interfering with Dani's chance at a title so to keep the Emperor happy, Honda will deny all knowledge of Dovi having factory parts. HRC have obviously withheld the launch control system though, they don't want Dovi's starts to be a dead give away that he's on factory kit.

It's staring you right in the face, people.

They want Nakano to test because he's Japanese? because he rides the same as Pedrosa?

Please! He's old and slow. The man they would want to have the new bike, already has it. They are giving the new bike to Nakano because he isn't a threat to Pedrosa and HRC want to solidfy relations with Gresini.

Yeah, I've read that Bridgestone don't want to supply any more teams but I have a hard time believing they could say no to Honda. I've heard rumors for years that Honda and Bridgestone have always dreamt of working together, an all Japanese combination taking on the world. When Tamada was competitive in 2004 it appeared that the union was very close, Bridgestones consistent results in 2007 and 2008 should put the marriage on the verge for 2009 or 2010.

I agree with Austin that a move to Bridgestone might be on the cards. They were not willing to supply more teams for this season, but the next one or the one after that might be different and they might be wanting some data of how the official bike runs on the 'stones to make sure that they make progress in the right direction.
I very much doubt Dovi has a factory bike.

However, putting it all into perspective, we've heard all this before haven't we? For the 07 season, when Melandri wanted to go to Ducati and Gresini/Honda held him back for 1 year because they had an option on him for a further year and chose to exercise it, they sweetened the pill for him by saying Melandri would be HRC's third official bike running on bridgestones. It was all pie in the sky and Marco never got an official anything. So I'd take it all with a very large pinch of salt.

I def think Dovi has the new bike, perhaps even the bike HRC brought to laguna for Pedrobot. There's really no explaination for Dovi beating Hayden @ Laguna on Michelins if he's on an 07 bike. As much as some people wanna disparage Nicky, he's for sure fantastic/better than Dovi at Seca.

Thought about bridgestone angle, but if that happened we would effectively have a one make tyre series. I think Michelin would pull out if the factory Honda squad switched, not that I give a shit. Im all for a one make tyre rule.

I'm with you on Dovi's equipment but there is a perfectly good explanation for his ability to beat Hayden.

Fuel.

Hayden's bike drinks like an Irishman.
