whats so special about san diego that you want to find an UK version of it?
you know the EU is much bigger than only the UK, right, so why not look further than the UK? -------------------- If I play a stupid girl and ask a stupid question I've got to follow it through. What am I supposed to do- look intelligent??? - Marilyn Monroe

For a start as you are too polite to say I have been to both san diego and amsterdam and whilst I too like san diego a place like amsterdam is more cosmopolitan and interesting, particularly the sense of history, for me as a person from the "new world". I wouldn't even bring up any australian cities as our oldest cities are barely 200 years old. |

As for me Liking San Diego, I was merely looking for a place with similar culture. I dont really know the difference between EU and UK (unfortunately) -------------------- should of had the ex-wife killed, woulda been cheaper

What's the culture like in San Diego? Little bit of everything. Modern American (not NYC or Chicago). Bit Latin (less than 50 miles to Tijuana, Mexico). Bit SoCal (think southwest with sophisticated feel). My guess, Amersterdam. Maybe London, if you do not mind high prices and camera watching your every move. That is what scared me when I was there. I make a odd move or something that could look threatening and I thought I'd have all of Scotland Yard on his a$$. The other major cities I can think of are traditional. Paris is obvious French. Any Italian city is only found in Italy. You have rustic cities like Sicily and Torino, and modern cities like Rome and Milan, but it is obvious Italian. You have Monaco, but it is very French and very expensive. Most major Spanish cities are found nowhere in the world. Not Europe, but Rio de Janiro is a great city. The culture in that city in unparalell to anything else in the world. The food is great. Women in bikini's everywhere (not good thing for guy with GF though), but there are men in speedos (most uncomfortable thing on the planet I might add). If money is low, go to New York City. You have Chinatown, Polishtown, The Jewish Section, the Dutch, the Russians (great food), pretty much everything from every walk of life can be found in NYC. Failed to read above post. Then Amersterdam is the place. German has that antiseptic feel that would be bad. London is full of uneducated Brits (they all seem to live in masses there). -------------------- Save Water

does that include london? London is what I was refering to. You get watched by cameras everywhere. Police are at every street block it seems like. When I think London, I think the book 1984 (last book I actually read in 10 years). -------------------- Save Water

If you are into the whole bombed out city look, might I suggest Detroit? They need visitors more than ever.
