http://www.sunherald.com/sports/story/550670-p4.html

Just finished reading this news aritcle, and it looks like good ol' Josh is not really excited about the MASSIVE rule changes set to take place next year in AMASBK.

He states in the article that there are to be two (2) World Superbike race dates in the States, and on that note he is definitely looking for a ride on the world level. Has anyone heard or read anything on this??

Josh's attempts at a World Superbike ride....

Umm no offence but who is Hayes?? I haven't followed AMA for a couple of seasons but recall it was all about Mladin & Spies.. Perhaps I am behind the times with that championship though..

Personally, I'd like to see more experienced MotoGP riders head to WSBK. The Biaggi, Checa, Barros reincarnations have been most interesting and added a new dimension to the championship. Having said that there have been a few failures like Laconi, Abe, Tamada etc so we don't want the dead wood floating over to Superbikes. I'd like to see riders with ability but who have underperformed in MotoGP like Melandri, Elias + even one Mr Nicky Hayden go to WSBK and race against the best there.. Edwards back on a factory Honda in WSBK would be very interesting.

But for sure, there has to be some good young riders coming through from AMA, British Superbikes and of course Australia to keep the championship alive with young stars on the rise. But who those riders I don't really know, let the championship winners graduate perhaps with an opportunity they deserve

Okay, firstly....

Josh Hayes is a pro racer in the USA. He is not an AMA SBK 'regular', so to speak, but he did race that class in 04 or 05 on a ZX10, with a podium in the wet to show for it. The classes that he currently races in are 600 Supersport, and Formula Xtreme (600cc Superbike, if you will. also, Duc848, Tri675, Buell and Bimmer 1200cc aircooled twins...) I think he has won the class championship the last two years, and almost won the 600 SS class last year. LOL, if you click on the LINK, the news article will show a bit more info about him, as well.

Secondly....
To call certain racers 'failures', seeing how they are/were GP500/MotoGP race winners (Abe, Laconi, Tamada, etc.) and Multi-race winner Melandri, who did happen to finish 2005(?) in 2nd place, behind Rossi, is sort of cruel, no? Either way, all of these racers are world class. biggrin.gif But, it would not hurt to see Elias, de Angelis and de Puniet, Guintoli, mixing it up in the BACK OF THE WSBK PACK with Robbie Rolfo laugh.gif

Perhaps Josh Hayes, young star on the rise he may well be, should do a full season in AMA and win the championship before he gets a WSBK ride? He should get a top factory ride to show his ability and have the support he deserves.

I'd like to Spies in WSBK or even MotoGP, I think he'd out do Hopkins & challenge Hayden within a short time.

Josh Hayes, not Herrin AB. Hayes is in his mid 30's.

Good rider, but never a factory rider, so to say (Erion is essentially a 600 class Factory Honda team).

That's right, Josh Herrin is the young up-and-comer that has shown some very promising performances in the 600 Supersport class, dicing it up with Roger Hayden last year at Laguna, and fighting for the championship points lead right now with Jake Zemke and Ben Bostrom. Herrin is not ready to cross the ocean, I don't think. In due time....

Josh Hayes' old a$$ will do well-- he is a determined rider that SHOULD have won the Daytona 200 that was given to Chaz Davies (lets not even start on about Chaz needing to get to MOTOGP ASAP before the AMA implodes and takes him down with the ship...)

Whoa, hold up.....did you just hand me the 'chill pill' ?? ohmy.gif
