Yamaha's superbike racing pedigree is terrible. They are the only one of the Japanese factories not to have won the world championship, and their only major superbike titles are the McKenzie BSB titles and the 91 AMA crown. Whats their problem? They have made race specials like the R7, they have made a racey rode bike to base their racer on, they have hired competative riders and had factory teams, but the results never come. I don't get it.

Its a bit of a mystery really why they haven't done anything... however in Supersport Parkes and Foret are I believe 2nd and 3rd in the standings on the Yamaha. Hopefully we'll see an improvement at superbike level too...

Perhaps its the difference in budgets WSBK vs MGP.You know which one takes the larger wad.But things may change,I personally have an inkling that Troy Corser wants to be back on the mighty Suzuki after last weekends WSBK.Anyone notice the difference in smiles per miles with Corser? He aint happy at Yamaha.

Well Nori, who is Mr Yamaha in superbikes seems to be the bridesmaid every year but he is the 5th most successful WSBK rider of all time despite his lack of championships.
Although I believe he should have won both the 2000 and 2007 crowns but bad luck and a dodgy drugs scandal held him back. |

I would say he is less successful than all of the riders who have actually won the world title, and there are more than 5 for sure. -------------------- To consider Kevin Schwantz an equal rider to Rainey, Doohan and Lawson is to overrate him. How do you rate the success of these riders? I would say he is less successful than all of the riders who have actually won the world title, and there are more than 5 for sure. Based on race wins and podiums he's the 5th best.. But there are many riders who have had much shorter superbike careers but won titles (Hoggy), so its difficult to say who's more successful really. |

The same reasoning could be used to say that in fact there is nothing wrong with Yamaha. They are often at the front and winning races, i think they fancy a title though. -------------------- To consider Kevin Schwantz an equal rider to Rainey, Doohan and Lawson is to overrate him. True. Personally I don't think there's too much wrong with the Yam at all, Haga could have won titles with a bit more luck and cutting out a few mistakes. Haga has been at the front for years, he's just missing a title and hopefully one will come eventually although time is running out.

Haga needs a lot luck and concentration...If not for Biaggi, Haga had won 2007 WSBK title.. |

If not for Biaggi, Haga had won 2007 WSBK title.. If not for ephedrine he'd won in 2000 as well -------------------- "Buy the ticket take the ride" - Hunter S Thompson
