No need, the racing has been very close this season so far between the two brands.

Yes, a tire brand shouldn't make the diff in a win or loss...let the rider do that

"I think that if Casey had raced in the '80s and '90s with Kevin Schwantz, Wayne Rainey and Mick Doohan, he'd have seen that every weekend," the Australian told the official MotoGP website. "It was probably something that he wasn't particularly expecting; [he] probably expected to win the race easily like he'd dominated in the practices." IMO yeah there should be a control tyre. I don't like tyres being such a decisive factor, I'd rather the riders and the bikes would be the only 2 factors.

No need, the racing has been very close this season so far between the two brands. Im not sure what your idea of close racing is,but all races have been over with 2-3 laps to go with an average margin of victory over 5 seconds if i had to make a guess. To lazy to look it up.By the way.im against spec tire, spec anything when it come to prototype racing.I would be happy with a run what you brung set of rules.Anything you have balls to strap on,race it and see who the best man is. |

Everything about the sport has always been about going faster.............then the move to 800s.
Sorry, protomoto racing is dead. Blind allegiance to it's old ways should be dead as well. F1 has already been down this road. The tried to maintain the illusion of true prototypes for decades. It was miserable and unnecessary. -------------------- Next DORNA rule: Rider minimum weight = 60kg. If Ezy thinks I'm going to idolize a 5' emaciated horse jockey he's sadly mistaken. No to control even when my team has a disadvantage using a lesser tire. Let them fight like dogs every race.

The most recent WSBK race (Assen Race 2) was pretty much identical to the Chinese Grand Prix.
Two riders broke away and pushed each other to the end. In SBK it was Bayliss and Haga and in GPs it was Rossi and Pedrosa. Was one race "better" than the other? If i had to vote, I'd say SBK Race 2 was way better than the Chinese GP because you have no idea what Haga can or will do at any time in any corner. Did anybody really expect a fiery battle from Pedrosa? Just my opinion. |

Yo welcome to the forum. Not to flame or anything but this thread is about a control tire. There is a thread on the Shanghai race where this would be a good post. I posted in here on purpose as a comparison between a World Championship running a control tire versus a World Championship that doesn't. How does one argue that a control tire or no control tire makes for better or worse racing? The most recent races for each series was pretty much identical. |

no to control tyres.

Being that I ride, I say No. A tire war is what we need to get a better product that filters down to something I can own.

I posted in here on purpose as a comparison between a World Championship running a control tire versus a World Championship that doesn't. How does one argue that a control tire or no control tire makes for better or worse racing? The most recent races for each series was pretty much identical. I see. The WSBK race at Monza was amazing, BOTH races. I know it was not the most recent race when you posted. The one thing that I like was the fact that I didn't hear the announcers, once, say that someone shredded their tires or this is a Bridgestone/Michelin track. I very much like your last question that you ask in your post. If we prove that it doesn't make a huge difference in racing results or close racing then why have control tires or why not have control tires? One could argue that its a waste of money time and speculation from all to have different tires. On the other hand one could argue that it takes away from the spectacle and prototyping. Some may enjoy the tire war just as much as the bike or rider war. IMHO The fact that we are so removed from what actually happened with the tires is a total turn off. I want to see pics of the tire with statements from the rider about how the tire performed. All we get is speculation from the commentary and people on the forums and a few random pics. Some here may argue that they can see what is going on with the tire by watching the rider and bike move on the track. This may be true in some cases. But I can't count how many times I have heard Mamola say, "Look how his bike is moving out of that corner, I suspect that he is going to be in trouble." But then the rider is fine. We also get some statements from the rider but they are rarely going to tell us what really happened. Lots of complaints of grip. Why would they flame their tire manufacturer? Sometimes... i used to think that..but honestly, whens the last time we got our hands on a Q tire lol I love that arguement -------------------- I'd Rather Go Riding than Not

I've said it before. I would love to see an "All-stars" post season race in MotoGP. One race where everyone races on the same bike, same tires. Have them race on 600cc factory bikes, the ones that the factories sell the most of. Each year a different manufacturer and tire company gets to provide the machines. This would finally end all the bs about who's the best rider. Ok I'm dreaming, but wouldn't it be great.
-------------------- "The riders wear leather suits, helmets, gloves, and plastic pucks velcro'd to their knees, and leather suits" - Greg White
Give me one race at post season. Everyone gets the same bike, tires, electronics, etc. Let them race it out so we can finally put to rest who is the best "rider". |

After watching the WSBK races from Monza last weekend, I've decided I also agree there should be no control tire. It's ruined WSBK. The idea that I would have to watch the race until the very finish to find out the winner is preposterous.
It's also very dangerous. Did you see how close those guys were? That's totally not safe. Our only hope is that the series gets snatched up by someone smart enough to get rid of the ridiculous control tire. It has completely ruined WSBK and made the racing absolutely unwatchable. |
