Thanks to the donations, the site will have a complete upgrade performed in the next few days.

It's being done by the people that make the software - so it should happen without any problems.

Please note that the forum part of the site will have the default design as it will be a complete install, so dont worry if it looks weird.

The country flags will also disappear for the time being.

The PM system will obviously get fixed and the site will be fully patched up........as well as getting a few more nifty features, including:

* Personal profiles NEW!
* Buddy lists NEW!
* Comment within profiles NEW!
* Rate users NEW!

With the new licences a development licence is provided - which means new features, upgrades etc will be tested on the hidden dev site before moving onto the live site..........so that will help no end, as I have to make changes on this live site.

Then once everything is fully working..........................we will be changing the sites name and moving domains!

I would have thought you were providing a lot of publicity for "their" sport; perhaps they don't like the criticism they receive on independent sites. I certainly would have little interest in participating in any future dorna sponsored/approved forum. (I don't expect you to reply to this).

People are very protective about their bands, this site reprents a minimal amount of Dornas worldwide audience. They are sending cease and desists to other webmasters, one closed down his site completley!

I've had a few emails from Dorna, mainly due to image copyright infringments. I know they visit the site as they show in the site logs - so it's only a matter of time that their lawyers get in touch.

I took the decision to move teh site before this happens, then it give's me sufficient time to plan it and ensure the site doesnt look any search engine position or ranking

And no, Dorna would not be looking to approve this forum. They had one of their own and that was closed - and I know they dont want to work with forums.

I expressed myself poorly. I wasn't thinking of this at all, rather that I appreciate the independent sites and enjoy this one in particular, and would not be happy if they managed to close the independent sites and there was only a dorna forum; their previous site was obviously before my very amateur and recent exploration of the internet. I should have realised that anyone who rides that bike would not be too worried about offending dorna .

I am sure you are right that they would think a site like this is inconsequential, but I think they and perhaps you may be underestimating things. People who post on or monitor this site are likely to be very hardcore fans, and many other industries have gone out of their way to nurture such people, for example science fiction which is now huge in economic terms but was mainly supported by such people prior to star wars etc. I guess as businessmen they want any enquiry regarding motogp to lead straight to their site which directly makes money for them.

I can't change the domain name though...I'll say that we are formerly www.motogpforum.com and whatever so that people know. If Dorna want to sue me for the domain, i'll go Denny Crane on their arses. They can't sue for having it on a MYSPACE page ... seriously.
