Ben, I have a question.

I changed my second rider from Melandri to Rossi (stupidly, as it turns out). I had $16 million, but after the transaction have the sum total of $0!! blink.gif
WTF happened??? Is there some rule I have not read? Admittedly I am sitting here in a hotel in KL having watched the race and am feeling a little "tired and emotional", but cannot figure it out.

Help!!

Cheers mate. smile.gif

Hmmm....Pirky also sent me a Pm a couple of weeks ago about something similar.

Questions:

1. When did you make the team changes - as its locked now?

2. How many times did you press submit?

3. Did you see ay error messages, browser errors?

4. Did you loose your internet connection?

Let me know then I can investigate further - although theres no roll back on the system - so I'm not sure if theres anything I can do.

The league has been running on the same system for last season & this season, without any reported glitches - with the exception of this & pirkys....which could mean there is some probablem, or it could be a co-incidence.

There are alot of team changes made - all without issues. So I really need to see if this is a system error - or a user / browser error.

Hi Ben,

Answers:

1. Thursday night. I am here in KL for the race, so I know it was definitley in time.

2. Once. I am sure of this.

3. No. All seemed fine.

4. Connection here in the hotel is brilliant, 10 times faster than mine at home, where I usually make changes from.

Please don't get me wrong and think I am kicking up about it, you do an awesome job and I know I for one appreciate it. Doing this fantasy league has brought a different dimension to watching my favourite sport.
It just seemed strange as every other transaction has gone so smoothly.

Cheers mate.

Had the same problem. Changed from Melandri to Rossi on Wednesday night. Went from 16 mill to zero. Melandri went from zero to hero, got screwed twice!!!

Hate to disappoint Ben, but ditto. Vermeulen + about 23 or 32 million = Capirossi and a bank balance of 0.

Guys,

I'm gonna be honest here - I dont know why this issue has suddendly occured after nearly 2 full seasons of running this program.

There are no roll-back features, or log's of past transactions.

I have yet to update the points from Sepang, although I have a feeling this result will tie up the first position for Firetrap...............but the next positions (for which we have prizes still) are still close.

I've contacted the guy who originally made the program, but I have a feeling that this is a bug that we wouldnt be able to identify easily.

Its really frustrating, and I cant apologise enough to those that have lost their budgets - but I'm at a loss on how to rectify it.

I have site back-ups, but these get overwritten daily - and I keep a month old one, but obviously this would mean that we loose a whole bunch of past transactions and this wouldnt be an option.

I'm going to do some testing at weekend with my team, and see if I can get this to replicate, as I made changes too before Sepang - yet my budget was un-affected.

As I said, I'm really sorry - not the best way to wrap up the competition.

Reason #234 why I wont be running the league in 08 sad.gif

thats a real shame mate, altho im somewhere near the bottom i have enjoyed the fantasy league. it the first i have ever entered and it certainly added a different perspective to the season, i found myself rooting for riders i wouldn't normally root for because they were on my team.
hope you change your mind.

I'm gonna find an alternative Rog, that we can join and still have a bit of a comp on - but not phyically operate one.

http://www.motogpmanager.com/

Is at the top of the list so far.

It just doesnt warrant the time commitment to run it I'm afraid, plus instances like this dont help sad.gif

Its been fun, I enjoyed playing last years league more so than this years........prob coz I didnt pick Stoner in time biggrin.gif

I also brought ROSSI around about the same time.....but with NO problems.

We'll have to put our heads together to think of something for next season, I thoroughly enjoyed the 'fantasy league' especially since I beat Roger M. biggrin.gif

I enjoyed last year more also...Probably because I won.. biggrin.gif
I had no luck this year at all...I lost my way early and once I remembered my strategy from last year it was too late.

It's a real shame you won't be doing this again next season as it is a lot of fun for me. I totally understand the added problems and time it must take you. I know I appreciate all the time, effort and expense you have put into it these past two seasons.

Cheers guys for the comments.

I still think we can have some fun with a fanasy team, but with another provider. I'm going to scout around and see if anyone can give us a deal smile.gif

Plus, most other leagues have more features than ours - so it could be a good move all round.

As for the league, I'll be updating the results tomorrow for sepang and continuing looking into the issues with the cash.

Will definately be doing one next year, keep us informed of which one you pick. Also i've just had the same problem as some others. I had £17 million and swapped Rossi for Loris Capirossi and my money has gone to nothing. I calculated I should have £16 million left. It shouldn't make any difference now with it being the last race (unless someone ends up on the same points as me)

Also I ran a bike forum a few of years ago for a couple of years (had a couple of hundred members and a lot of traffic at some points). I also ran a fantasy bike league. I can vouch for you Ben, I know how much work goes into it. I had spammers and all sorts of problems, never mind the cost. My little hobby ended up costing quite a bit of money to keep open. The constant updates to the forum code whenever weaknesses appear. I ended up closing mine down as I just didn't have the time. Anyway keep up the good work. As when you're own site runs well (like this), it really is a good feeling.

Cheers for that mate, means a lot. I think unless you have run a site/forum, people just dont know about the behind the scenes stuff.

---

Anyway, I'm sorry to say after a number of hours testing, comparing scripts, checking the database that I cant find the f'kin problem with the budget being zero'd.

As mentioned before, the league is run from a script for nearly two seasons without a hitch.

Its a sour way to finish up the season, though I dont think it would have affected the main outcome of the #1 spot.

Belive me, I'm totally gutted we've come this far and now encountered somthing which I cant pin point....and even more puzzling is that its just reared its head now.

I still havnt been able to replicate the problem myself, its calculated numerous transacions correctly, right down to two decimal points.
